Hatta from Dubai: how to get there, kayaking on the dam and what to do

Hatta is a mountain town in the Hajar Mountains, about 90 minutes' drive from Dubai. Its resorts and Wadi Hub reopened for the 2026–27 season on 28 September 2026. Kayak on Hatta Dam from 7am to 9pm, or take the Hatta Express bus from Dubai Mall bus station for AED 25 each way.

Kayaks on Hatta Dam

Getting there

  • By car: about 90 minutes from Dubai.
  • Hatta Express bus (route H02): from Dubai Mall bus station, AED 25 each way, every 2 hours from 7am to 7pm, about 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • In Hatta: a hop-on bus links the main sights for about AED 2 per stop.
  • Guided tour: a Hatta mountain tour with dam kayaking and the Heritage Village includes the transport.

Things to do

  • Kayak on Hatta Dam: turquoise water between bare mountains, open 7am to 9pm. Book with Hatta Kayak.
  • Hatta Wadi Hub: downhill carting, zorbing, archery and wall climbing, plus hiking and mountain-bike trails.
  • Hatta Heritage Village: restored mud-brick houses, a fort and watchtowers.

When to go

October to April is best, when the resorts and Wadi Hub are open for the season and the mountain air is cooler than the coast.

Where to stay

Most visitors do Hatta as a day trip from Dubai. The Hatta Express leaves from Dubai Mall, so a Downtown Dubai penthouse puts the bus stop a short walk away.
